"Marie François performed her recital on the Yamaha CFX—an instrument she personally helped choose for Quatre Mains in Hamburg and on which she also recorded her Chopin Nocturnes. From the very first moment she played it, she was enchanted by its tone, even jokingly calling it her “companion” as she introduced her pieces. Now a proud Yamaha artist, she feels a deep affinity with the brand. Her recital was scheduled for a Saturday evening at 9 p.m.—the perfect hour, she believes, for Chopin’s nocturnes to reveal their full magic.
She opened Parisian Reverie with John Cage’s famous 4′33″, describing it as a moment to pause, quiet the mind, and prepare the audience for what lay ahead. Later, during Satie’s Gnossiennes, she invited listeners to lie down beneath the piano and feel its vibrations directly—an intimate gesture that was met with delight. From there, the program unfolded seamlessly: a selection of her favorite Chopin Nocturnes gave way to Ravel’s glittering Jeux d’eau and Debussy’s Pour le piano, building to the exuberant finale of L’Isle joyeuse. What began in contemplative silence blossomed into a dazzling display of virtuosity and joy. "
