DE TEUTENSYMFONIE
The TeutenSymphony was a multidisciplinary event that brought together music and local heritage. Inspired by the “Teuten”—itinerant merchants who once played a significant role in the history of my hometown Hechtel-Eksel—the project reimagined this past through a series of concerts held in four historic houses originally built by the Teuten.
The audience was guided through the town on a musical walking route, accompanied by a local guide who shared stories about the Teuten and their influence on the community. Along the way, they stopped at four different heritage houses, each transformed into an intimate concert venue.
The program featured a diverse musical line-up, ranging from classical music to jazz and pop. It included a piano recital, a solo cello performance, a pop concert by a live band, and a jazz set.
The project was organized by Jan Cornelissen of VZW Play&Joy (Hechtel-Eksel), with myself serving as artistic director.
